Potato Bullets/Aloo Bullets/Potato Starter

Hello all, today I’m going to share a Shallow fry Potato Bullets/Aloo Bullets snack or starter recipe which can be served with green chutney or sweet chutney or simply tomato ketchup.

Potato is a root vegetable and starchy. These are cooked quickly for any curry base.

N number of dishes are made with potato-like Kurma, Curry, Mixed Veg Curry, Potato fry, Aloo Bonda yum…and the list goes on and on.

Potato fry is my all-time favourite dish and made often at home. Potatoes are great for binding. Mashed potatoes and stir-fry beans is a good combination.

This recipe made with any root vegetable will be yummy.

Now let’s get into the step by step procedure of the potato bullets recipe

Ingredients

  • Potatoes/Aloo/Bangaaladumpalu/Alugadde-8 Nos
  • Rice Flour/Biyyam Pindi/Akki hittu-1 Tablespoon
  • Ginger garlic paste/Allam Vellulli Mudda/Shunti Bellulli Mudde-1 Teaspoon
  • Chilly Powder/Kaaram/Khaaradpudi-2 Teaspoons
  • Coriander Powder/Dhaniyaala Podi/Dhaniya Pudi-1 Teaspoon
  • Garam Masala-1/2 Teaspoon
  • Poppy Seeds/Gasagasaalu/Gasagase-One cup
  • Salt-As Required
  • Oil-2 Tablespoons

Procedure for Potato Bullets/Aloo Bullets

  1. Boil potatoes in a pressure cooker for 5 whistles.
  2. Peel the potatoes, once the pressure releases
  3. Mash the potatoes well, however, grate the potatoes and mash them to get the smooth mixture.
  4. Once potatoes mashed, add in the rice flour, ginger garlic paste, chilly powder, coriander powder,garam masala, and mix, until well combined.
  5. Take poppy seeds on a plate and keep them aside
  6. Take the potato mixture, form into bullet shapes and roll over the poppy seeds until well coated.
  7. Likewise, do the same with the remaining mixture and keep it ready, to fry.
  8. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan or tawa, place the bullets and golden fry all sides.
  9. Remove from the pan and serve hot with Pudina/Mint chutney or Tomato Ketchup.
Notes

You can boil potatoes in a heavy-bottomed vessel with water for 15 minutes or until done.

You can make a paste or slurry with rice flour and dip the bullets before rolling over poppy seeds.

If you are a non-vegetarian or eggetarian replace rice flour slurry with beaten egg.

-Rice flour can also be replaced with cornflour.
